Mac's Glory Days

Akwasasni: the beginning of a gambling man

Then:
Thursday Baby!! Casino Day. On Thursdays some friends and I would cancel class and head for the Canadian border where Akwesasne lived. Akwesasne Casino was a volatile friend, sometimes giving us a few hundred dollars and sometimes taking it from us. However, when you’re in college, optimism runs higher than it should, and a few hundred dollars could supply various forms of entertainment for weeks. Plus if I lost, I still had a meal card, a dorm room, and a phat rich friend who would, no doubt, pay me to write a paper or two for him.

When I got back I would either take my girlfriend to a nice dinner (if I won) or the cafeteria (if I lost) and either way she would yell at me for gambling, to which I would scream, “Don’t judge me,” and storm away with an excuse to play beer pong all night.

Now:
Today, after eight hours of work, I’ll probably go to the gym to ensure I don’t get too fat. While I’m doing curls I’ll spend about ten minutes looking at myself in the mirror, debating whether or not my hairline is receding. Every college girl working out in hot pants will be a painful reminder that I should have married one when I had the chance.

I’ll head home, get some McDonalds to make sure I don’t benefit from the workout. Then I’ll talk to some friends, make grand plans about going out to some bars and meeting vixens, but will ultimately pass out on the couch before I even take a shower. But at least I won’t be hungover in the morning, and can do it all again tomorrow.

Mac's Glory Days

Mac fondly remembers his tenders

Glory Days:
Well, it's Tuesday at about 12:30. If I was in college, depending on my schedule, I would most likely be waking up right now. Actually, let me change that. Regardless of my schedule I would be waking up right now, and making the biggest decision of the day: Buffalo Chicken Tenders or Cheese Fries for breakfast.

Today:
Today, Tuesday around 12:30, I'm about to have a meeting with our tech guy to see if we can synchronize my Outlook with our companie's server. If it's successful I can no longer use the excuse that "Oh, I didn't get that email because my Outlook didn't work." Let's pray for failure............and there are no Buffalo Chicken Tenders anywhre in my immediate future.
